Lesson 3 – Taking and Entering Reference Measurements (4:35)
Watch the video to learn how to take a reference measurement using best practices, and how to enter that measurement into DPD2CC®.
Taking a Free Chlorine DPD
- Rinse the sample vial with process water three times using the sample valve on the bottom right of the flow cell.
- Take the sample and make a note of the time it was taken using the clock on the Neon® or Neon® Multi.
- Wipe the outside of the sample vial with a soft tissue and insert into colorimeter.
- Take a “blank” measurement.
- Add the DPD reagent for free chlorine.
- Carefully invert the vial 10 times (do not vigorously shake!).
- Insert the vial into the colorimeter and take a reading.
- Open DPD2CC® on your smart phone or tablet.
- Press “Start new measurement” button.
- Enter the date and time the sample was taken and press “Continue.”
- Enter the measurement value into the “Disinfectants (FCl / ClO2)” box and press “OK.”
For other measurement parameters, these steps are mostly the same, but there may be additional reagents added or a reaction timer. Follow the instructions of your reference measurement system.
